How To Succeed In Homeownership


A Home Buyer Education Program encouraging homeownership opportunities, sustainability, and home buying preparation for first time home buyers

Dominion Homes, Homes on the Hill, and The Columbus Urban League all recognize that to succeed in homeownership there are key concepts that all first time buyers need to understand. This program is designed, not only to help prepare you for homeownership but to reward you for your efforts.

There is no cost to you to attend one of the eight hour seminars and upon completion of the class, you will receive a certificate which will enable you to receive an additional $1,000 off on the purchase price of your new Dominion home.*

At the seminar, the instructor, who is accredited by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will present:

          •   • Advantages and disadvantages of homeownership
          •   • New vs. existing home choices – responsibilities
                and pitfalls including how to budget to buy a home
          •   • pros and cons of renting
          •   • How to review and understand your own
                credit situation
          •   •What lending alternatives are available to you
                and how to apply for a mortgage loan
          •   • What to expect during the closing process
          •   • How to be a successful homeowner

Homes On The Hill is a nonprofit organization that was incorporated in 1993 to develop decent, affordable housing in the Hilltop for low and moderate income individuals and families, and helps to strengthen neighborhoods. * Certificate must be presented to Dominion Homes by the homebuyer at least 30 days prior to closing so that an addendum can be drafted, signed, and accepted.
